Jobe is a 32 year old married man, who takes on a job as a security guard in a department store in Cravenside Town centre. Thinking this would be the easiest job ever, Jobe casually walks into the job ready to help old ladies with their shopping and be of help as a security presence. Jobe is a kind natured none violent man, and has no idea what hell he has just walked into.
From day one, Jobe finds himself caught up in the dark world of theft, drugs, robbery, fraud, deception, assault, and violent encounters, that occur in our towns every week, most of which is hidden from the public by police, councils and crown prosecution services. At first Jobe is frightened, not knowing what he can do, his kind nature is making him vulnerable to attack from the groups of shoplifters who steal to feed their crack and heroin addiction, it seems Jobe is a coward, unable to confront and deal with the many individuals breaking the law in and around his store.
Jobe is tormented even when he goes to his local pub, by a group of lads who think they own the village, and Jobe’s wife is constantly rejecting him sexually and spending all the money shopping adding to Jobe’s sadness. Debt is increasing and things are about to get much worse, as Jobe is starting to crack! What is not known, is Jobe’s terrible childhood past of abuse, torture and battering that he was subjected to from the age of 6 years old to the age of 13.
Jobe was an army corporal, who said goodbye to that life, choosing a life of peace instead, but the more Jobe gets involved in the cat and mouse chase of criminals, the more he starts to change, and with his life spiralling out of control, Jobe appears to be balancing on the fine line between life and death, and what manifests through the next 5 months, is truly remarkable.
Now Jobe is in his own hell, unloved, in debt, and bordering psychotic, but still, fighting for justice, feeling dead inside, he throws himself into every situation, often single handed to detain and arrest, purse snatchers, robbers, burglaries and shoplifters to the point of high recognition, saving lives and under going some of the most courageous and thrilling chases through streets, rivers, towns and cities, some reaching distances of 4 miles on foot.
Over four years Jobe totalled six hundred and forty arrests. Jobe is no longer frightened of being killed, because he is already dead inside. Every local shoplifter fears him, gangs of thieves try to kill him, and criminals he caught that went to prison want him dead.
This is a sad story of life involving a kind honourable man who just wanted to live in peace but found himself in hell, and the only way out for him, was to face the most vicious feared animal ever created. Himself!
